'Corker of a bowl'

  1. I really like what you have managed to achieve with these old corks. The spiral of metal tops gives the design a particular look of quality opposed to other designs utilising corks. It's unfortunate that the bowl broke and unintentionally became “flat packable”. Maybe it would have been better to connect the corks in a different way. If I was to change anything about this design I would probably have made it slightly smaller to decrease the stress of the edges being held up.

  2. This is a very interesting design, especially with the incorporation of the metal tops throughout. My only suggestion for the design would be to have maybe just one more layer of corks up the side to create a slightly deeper bowl.

  3. santi good work on this design. i really enjoyed the way you not only used the corks in your design. the spiral of metal caps make the bowls aesthetics much better giving a more honest design. pity that the bowl broke. what i would of done to make this design better would be to cut the corks in a way to connect them together so that there were no gaps once joined this would of made it stronger and create a nice pattern in the bowl. the bowl looks really good and i enjoyed looking at this design on the day.

  4. An interesting use of corks in a product which is not usually associated with traditional cork recycling.
I am not entirely sure a bowl was necessarily the best choice in terms of the properties of your material, it could have been something more suitable, perhaps a heat mat or similar.
For what you did end up doing, a good effort, well done!

  5. Santi, this design is epic! I think that the name of your design is a bit of an over kill which lets detracts from the elegant product which it is. I feel that the quality of construction could have been improved greatly, although the flat pack aspect was rather interesting. the silver caps add an interesting twist which enhance the overall design, well done :)
